Artist Caroline Zhiai Chen Joins the Los Angeles Beverly Arts (LABA) Biennial International Art Festival
Artist Caroline Zhiai Chen was born in 2000 in Beijing, China, a city rich in cultural heritage and artistic inspiration. Her mother is a renowned Chinese singer, which sparked her deep interest in music and the arts from a young age. Growing up in an environment surrounded by artistic
influences, she was constantly immersed in the beauty of sound and creativity. She continually
explored various creative channels and found joy in self-expression through visual
storytelling. In 2020, she embarked on an important chapter of her life by pursuing a
Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design at a university in Canada. Studying abroad not only
allowed her to grow academically but also gave her the opportunity to experience diverse
cultures and perspectives. It was during this time that she began to refine her artistic identity,
blending design principles with personal artistic exploration.
By 2023, Chen had the honor of becoming a student of Dr. Lu Yingkai, a distinguished professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Under Dr. Lu's guidance, she deepened her understanding of contemporary art practices and gained a more profound appreciation for the interplay between tradition and innovation. Her work reflects a fusion of modern aesthetics and thoughtful
introspection, often exploring themes of identity, space, and emotion. She strives to create
pieces that resonate with viewers on both a personal and universal level. Looking ahead,
she is committed to advancing her artistic journey and pushing the boundaries of creativity.
Chen's future vision includes not only expanding her portfolio but also contributing to the
global art community through exhibitions, collaborations, and educational initiatives. She hopes to inspire others and create work that leaves a lasting impact on the world.
